Miss Ruby has been part of the Port Credit Academy of Martial Arts for almost 13 years. Now a Shodan-Ho (Junior Black Belt), she's grown from beginner student to assistant instructor, bringing patience, energy, and a supportive attitude to every class she helps lead.
Her favourite part of training? The people. For Ruby, the dojo is more than a place to learn self-defense, it's a second home. It's where she found confidence, lifelong friends, and a community that celebrates effort over perfection. As an instructor, she works hard to make sure every student feels safe to try, grow, and be themselves, no matter their starting point.
Ruby especially enjoys helping younger students build focus and confidence. She knows that showing up and trying, again and again, is where real strength begins.
Beyond the Dojo
Outside the dojo, Ruby works at Metro and enjoys reading, skiing, swimming, spending time with her dog, and relaxing with friends. Her own martial arts journey reminds her that personal growth takes time, but it's always worth it.
Earning her Shodan-Ho rank is one of her proudest accomplishments, and she's excited to continue learning and helping others grow on their path to black belt and beyond.
Whether you're nervous on your first day or ready for your next challenge, Miss Ruby is there to cheer you on, and prove that with consistency, courage, and a great community, anything is possible.
