With 28 years of training and a 5th-degree black belt (Godan), Sensei Oswald is a long-standing pillar of the Port Credit Academy of Martial Arts. Her passion for teaching shines in the moments when students overcome challenges, achieve a new belt, or finally have something "click" after weeks of effort.
Sensei Oswald believes the dojo is one of the rare places where every student is supported in developing not just physical skill, but also clarity of mind and strength of spirit. She takes pride in being part of that personal growth journey.
Behind the Scenes
In addition to teaching, she has worked for the Academy for over 24 years, supporting students, parents, and instructors in countless ways. Her behind-the-scenes contributions make her a core part of what keeps the Academy running smoothly.
Beyond the Dojo
Outside the dojo, Sensei's passions range from RPG and strategy games to singing, drumming, and hiking. She's also active in her temple community and is currently pursuing a degree in Computers & Information Systems with a minor in Game Design, maintaining Honours List status while continuing to teach and train.
She has earned accolades including the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the Mother Teresa Award, and an OECTA award for a published short story.
Whether she's teaching a kata or offering support at the front desk, Sensei Oswald brings creativity, compassion, and quiet leadership to everything she does.
