With over 24 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Vandenberghe brings a lifetime of insight, curiosity, and dedication to every class she teaches.
Her favourite part of training? The discovery. No two classes are ever the same. Whether she's teaching or learning, there's always a new detail to uncover, a deeper connection to the techniques, philosophy, and teachings of the martial arts. She finds joy in watching young students grow, earn their black belts, and move on to their next chapters, with the dojo always remaining a second home.
Beyond the Dojo
A Clinical Biochemist by profession, Sensei has worked across academic and private laboratories in London, Toronto, and Oakville. Her specialty in clinical toxicology reflects her lifelong passion for learning and contributing to health sciences. Even in retirement, she continues to work on projects and research part-time.
Her hobbies include hiking, gardening, reading, sewing, and travel, especially exploring new cultures and historical perspectives. Every experience, from scientific research to a quiet Tai Chi class, adds depth to her approach to life and martial arts.
Sensei's thoughtful, patient, and deeply observant teaching style makes her a valued leader at the Academy. For students of all ages, she represents how martial arts, and a love of learning can grow together, one class at a time.
