At five and a half years old, Adriana still remembers how she felt when she first walked into the dojo: nervous, but excited to see all the cool moves. Before long, those nerves turned into confidence as she began learning karate basics and discovering her favorite part of training; kata, especially practicing high blocks. Every stripe she earns makes her feel proud, and being named Student of the Month brought her even more joy and excitement.
Karate has helped Adriana build confidence not only in the dojo, but also at school in kindergarten. Along the way, she's also made special friendships, including meeting her karate friend Emily on her very first day of class. Now the two dream about one day becoming black belts together.
Adriana's message to other children who may feel nervous about starting is both simple and heartfelt: "If you're scared to do karate, it's alright. Come with me."
